Who Makes an Amazing Movie but Doesn't Continue the Series?

The Golden Compass Book vs Movie

I’ll be cow-kicked if this wasn’t one of the most amazing book to film adaptations I’ve seen in years! There were very few points from the book that were changed, the steam punk graphics were stellar, and the casting was impeccable!

This novel was so magical and exciting that I was quite worried in the beginning that the movie would utterly fail to bring everything to life. Boy was I wrong. The production of the film was almost exactly as I had imagined it while reading. The casting was also incredibly perfect. I was so curious as to who would play all of these complex characters, but as each was introduced on screen I couldn’t help but think “My god they’re exactly who should have been cast.” EACH. AND. EVERY. TIME. Also, there was almost nothing changed or left out about the story line, the only portion that was distinctly different was the ending. They cut off the portion of the story where Lyra unknowingly hands Roger over to her father so he can open the bridge between worlds.

Which brings me to the only disappointment I had, but it was a colossal one….they didn’t finish the trilogy adaptations. Why in the proper fuck would you take the time to make something so amazing from such an awesome novel and then just say “ehh, we’ll stop at one.” Seriously, I want to know. The only thing I can think of is that the other books get a little too dark for some people. Screw the person who is sadistic enough to make ONLY the first book of a series into a film.

Still, I say this movie is TOTALLY worth watching if you haven’t already read the books. It’s also good for the fans of the series if you can handle the standalone concept.
