The Forgotten Hours

There are times we look back on our childhood and fondly remember a moment. Sometimes we find out that others remember those moments very differently. So whose version is correct? In The Forgotten Hours Katie struggles in her adult life to piece together a few very crucial hours from her adolescence. These moments are ones that put her father behind bars for statutory rape. But this is the man she cherished and believed in with all her being, so when she starts to gather more information before his release date her life beings to unravel.
I thought this book was going to be pretty straightforward and predictable. I was pleasantly surprised when I was still questioning until the very end. This book was well written, with the first chunk of the book reflecting back on the summer in question from the memories of the protagonist. Then, the book begins to turn when she discovers information that leads her on a road of discovery (for better or worse). This was an amazing coming of age book that left me feeling very satisfied.
I would recommend this book to those who liked the film Now and Then.
