But there are paranormal commands drawing them to one place…a place that will never let them leave. How do these people survive something that isn’t of this world? Pick up Skin to find out.
There were many time throughout this book that I felt like I was reading a Stephen King novel. The writing is captivating and draws you in, waiting to see what mystical beasts are devouring anything vulnerable enough to enter it’s layer. The biggest difference between the two authors, in my opinion, is that King is known for weaving long tales with many meticulous details and background stories. I felt like this was slightly lacking in Skin. I have to reserve judgment, as this is only book one in series that is at least 5 books long. So maybe a lot of those details will emerge in some of the other books…maybe not. I liked this book for what is was (entertaining), but I’m not really sure if I feel driven to read the rest of the books.
I would recommend this book if you’ve liked King books in the past, but don’t really like the length and intimate details. This is similar to his books, but a bit more clean cut.
