Lethal White by Robert Galbraith

Series: Cormoran Strike Series / Book: 4

BANG! POW! Galbraith does it again in the 4th installment of the Cormoran Strike series. In this storyline we see Robin and Strike thrown into a world of deception, not only from the suspects, but also from the family that has hired the detectives for their very secretive case. Big money, politics, and greed all swirl together in this page turning thriller.

I was so excited to see where Galbraith was going to take Robin and Strike’s relationship in this book since it left with such a cliffhanger. There is a lot of movement for that storyline in this novel while still juggling a head scratching case simultaneously. I think everything played out quite nicely by the end of the book, but I’ll be honest by saying out of all the books so far this has been the most frustrating for me; on both fronts. Robin’s slow processing of her feelings for her husband, and Strike, are somewhat painful to trudge through and I found myself so exasperated with her as she figured out her personal life. I also found the clients in this novel to be annoying. They want Strike to dig up information for them, but don’t want to tell the sleuth anything more than the bare bones. He spends the entire case having to poke and prod every morsel of information out of the people who expect him to solve their problems. *Insert big eye roll* The last thing that I felt irritated by is that Robin has now seemed to find herself a damsel in distress for most the series. She is presented as such a strong woman who loves the detective career, but is constantly needing saving by Strike. It gets a little old after awhile. With all those frustrations aired out, I still really enjoyed the storyline to Lethal White. It hasn’t been my favorite of all 4 in the series, but still a solid read.

I would recommend this one to those who like The Dublin Murder Squad series, or the CB Strike TV series that is based off of these novels.

Malia's Pizza Rating

A small pizza. Frustrating (because it’s just not enough), but satisfying (because it’s still pizza).
