The Nest

This book was given to us during a family book exchange over the summer of 2017. This debut novel follows the lives and poor choices of four siblings who have built their world around The Nest, a shared inheritance to be distributed when the youngest turns forty. Unfortunately, just before the disbursement date an accident happens that leaves the entire family scrabbling for financial security. Will these events lead the family to become closer? Or tear each other apart?
For some reason, I had attempted to predict what this entire book was about before opening the front cover. I was incredibly wrong, but found myself pleased nonetheless. Each sibling has a great back-story and there are enough characters with their own intriguing plots, that I found myself through the majority of the book before I knew it. The writing is easy to follow and I wanted to find out if these broken individuals would find some peace in the end. Once I was finished, I felt like it was a perfect conclusion; not everyone is redeemed, but an ample amount of healing is done.
I would recommend this book to those who like women’s fiction or the book I reviewed earlier called Sisters One, Two, Three.
