The Great Hunt
Series: The Wheel of Time / Book: 2

I quickly moved on to the second book in the Wheel of Time series, and I quickly finished it as well. In this installment Rand fights his inner desire to reach for the newly found temptations of saidin while giving chase to the dark forces who have stolen the Horn of Valere. Joining him are Perrin (who is in his own struggle with his new identity) and Mat (who’s life depends on catching up with the rogues who stole his talisman when they took the horn). Continue following them on their epic journey as The Wheel weaves it’s complex pattern.
This book ended up being just as exciting and captivating as the first. We are shown the tip of the iceberg on how these three young men’s lives are changing with no hope of going back to who they once were. Old characters are given more depth in this novel, while new characters (both good and evil) are introduced to make matters more interesting. I feel like I have only begun to scratch the surface of the beautiful world Jordan has created and he leaves me curious and wanting to find out so much more. My favorite additions from this volume were the Mirror of the Wheel, which I want a whole book dedicated to, and the new creatures the Seanchan use from across the seas.
I would recommend this book to those who like the concept of parallel universes or the epic style of storytelling like Game of Thrones.
Malia's Pizza Rating
A fresh classic pepperoni. Where the smell is so amazing it will even distract a sniffer from the trail of death and violence.
