Pilot X by Tom Merritt

This was the book I received in my winter BookBathBox. It tells the story of a pilot in a society of time travelers who saves, or destroys, the universe (depends on your opinions). He relays the history of how this came to be involving politics, manipulation tactics, and secret societies. Was he the hero of the book? Or the villain? Read it to formulate your own judgments.

This was a really fast read for me in between all my reading of the Wheel of Time series (insert link). I really did love this book, but fair warning…with all the time travel it’s a bit of a mind fuck. I am not an expert at the physics behind time travel, so I would be interested if someone with more knowledge in that category would find flaws in the theories within this book, but I found it to be of medium complexity. Thought provoking and a mind exercise, but not bombarded with the science side of it. I honestly think I could gain a lot by reading it a second time to piece everything together a little better. I also think this would make a bangin’ book club book; it would be very intriguing to hear how others interpret the jumps through time and space as well as the political motives of some of the characters.

Overall, this book comes highly recommended to readers who love time travel theory, or movies like Back to the Future.
