Into the Water

I read Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins when it first came out and I was hooked! So when Into the Water was published in 2017 I knew I had to read it. Unfortunately the year swept by and I never ended up picking it up. So when the opportunity came along for me to fit it into my reading challenge this year, I jumped all over it.
In a small England town, women tend to wind up dead at the hands of the river. Accidents, suicides, or murders? When it happens twice in a year, the investigation kicks up to find out if these women are taking their own lives or if something more sinister is going on. The answers are almost as murky as the waters of the Drowning Pool.
I have to say, this second book by Hawkins didn’t disappoint. There is a lot going on in this book, but in the end you see how tangled all the local's lives are and how messy history and memories can be. The writing is fast paced and leaves you wanting more. The chapters are short, which I like, because there are a lot of potential stopping points if you aren’t a quick or avid reader. I thought for sure I had the story straight until literally the last paragraph of the book had my jaw on the floor.
Pick this mystery up if you liked Girl on the Train, Woman in Cabin 10, or any of the other award winning murder mysteries out there. This one is sure to thrill you.
