Glass Sword
Series: Red Queen Series / Book: 2

I have now finished the second book in the Red Queen series! This book continues the story of Mare Barrow and her battle to free the newbloods. She has now gathered a group of dedicated fighters to find other red bloods with abilities like hers and save them from the silver king who is hunting and killing them. Who will join her and who will perish in this revolution?
Much like the first book in this series, I loved it! The author really draws you in to the suspense of the story line. I couldn’t wait to find out what other abilities Mare and her team would find in the newbloods they were searching for and how those gifts would help in the campaign to overthrow the king. I would say the only thing that annoyed me (as it does with most teen and adult dystopian novels) was the angst the main character constantly feels. Also, the wishy-washy way she talks about how unimportant she thinks she is yet somehow places all lives lost upon herself. I find this inner dialog irritating, but quickly remember it permeates many teen and young adult books and then I shake it off and continue on, loving the story.
I would recommend this book to those who like the Hunger Games books and movies. I would also recommend it to those who like the super powers of the Marvel and DC comics. This will be right up your alley.
